Last Tuesday April 26, 2011, Rob Zwemmer paid for 12 kids and their foster parents to spend the day at Disneyland, and I was fortunate enough to join them.  We had a blast!  The children were so excited, as most of them had never been to Disneyland.  Having gone to Disneyland once or twice a year as a kid, I was amazed.  So many of us are so fortunate, and we don't even realize it.

After a nice lunch with the whole group, Rob and I joined two sets of the parents and three of the kids.  We rode on Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Autopia, and Space Mountain (only the older children went on that one).  It was exciting to watch the kids on these rides, and to share those moments with them. They made my heart sing. 

While standing in line Rob and I couldn't help but ask question after question about what these foster parents did for their children.  We learned so much.  It turns out they are volunteers and aren't part of a state funded foster program.  Amazing.  Some people really do have a higher calling. 

One of the highlights was when the youngest girl, who is five years old, asked her foster parent if she could hug Rob.   It was precious.  I am so grateful for people like Rob who go out of their way to provide a fun filled day for kids who aren't as fortunate as others, and for people like the foster parents, who love so much, that they are willing to put other people's children at the top of their priority list.  It was a memorable day spent with amazing people.
