Coachella Valley History Museum
Chronicling the settlement of the Coachella Valley, the CV History Museum campus contains the Smiley-Tyler House, an adobe property that serves as the main exhibit site, and a historic 1909 school house. You can stroll through beautiful gardens including a Memorial Date Garden, a Japanese Garden, and take pictures alongside the oldest Cork Oak tree you will find in the area. The Submarine house, an actual blacksmith shop, and archives of the Historical Society are all available for touring. The Agriculture Room is an interesting exhibit covering one of the most important industries we provide in our valley. You can really get to know the area, and love it even more by discovering how it all came to be, and how our rich history effects today and tomorrow. The museum is brought to you by the Coachella Valley Historical Society, actively maintaining an archive depository for 25 years. Archives are available for research by appointment only, with over 100 years of history depicted in newspapers and magazines, business licenses and photos. The Coachella Valley History Museum is open from 10 to 4 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday; on Sunday from 1 to 4. You will find it near Old Town Indio.
